![]() That's one of those things I've always wanted to try but never got around to. In my opinion, it is definately worth the $25-$40 it costs, depending on carb model of course. We bought the set up, but have to either buy a cowl hood or do some major massaging on ours. He told us it was designed to be used in conjunction with the Extreme air cleaner assembly. I was talking to the K&N guys up at Brainerd a couple weeks ago, he was shocked it picked up that much by itself. Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Velocity Stack, Tall for Std Holley Carburetor 4150 style. In 95 degree heat and humidity we ran a 7.32 et in the 1/8th, after the stubstack was installed we ran a 7.19 and the car was very consistent. OH Boy do they work!! Our competition, and our best friend, gave us his to try out. The transition from the airfilter housing is very disruptive so I'm thinking it will work, someone here should know. I'm using a stock airfilter housing with a higher K&N filter so the lid is raised about 1/4" but looks closed. K&N has a number of different Stub Stacks that fit a variety of carbs including Holley 4150, 4160, Dominators. Total installation time (including opening the box) is less than 5 minutes and you really can't screw it up. Installation is also a breeze, just take it out of the box and slip it over the air horn of your carb. I don't know of any other product costing less than $40 that will give you so much of a performance increase. This can be a problem if you are using a 3" air filter element with a drop-base style air cleaner so you need to pay attention to this when you go to install it. ![]() If you don't do this, it may restrict the amount of air that can get into the carb and that certainly won't make you go faster. This stubstack is designed to be used with Holley 390-850cfm square bore carbs (4150/4160), that have had the choke horn milled off and still use an air cleaner. ![]() One thing you need to be careful of when using the stub stack, it essentially raises the top of the carb about an inch so make sure you have a tall enough air cleaner so that it leaves aabout 2" of clearance between the top of the stub stack and the air cleaner lid. When I was running a 600 vacuum secondary carb (which was probably a bit too small) the stub stack was good for over 2 tenths of a second in ET! Even now, with a 750 double pumper on my 350 SBC, I have tested it and it still gives me about 5 hundredths of a second better ET - still a bargain as far as I'm concerned. I have repeatedly tested my car both with and without this simple device and have always ended up putting it back on because the car goes faster with it than without it. The K & N Stub Stack is also one of the best dollar-for-dollar values on the market. I'm talking about K&N's 'Stub-stacks' that fits on top of the carb and is supposed to help airflow into the carb. Max, they are short velocity stacks made by K&N: I don't know if they'd clear the linkage on the side. Is that another name for Velocity Stacks? or are you talking about something way different Canadaĭo they work? Can they be used on the street with a choke? Velocity stacks look particularly striking when added to muscle cars, race cars and hot rods.įind the ram tubes / Velocity Stack to best suit your engine at EFI Hardware, Australia’s leading electronic fuel injection performance and conversion specialists located in Melbourne, Australia.Profile | register | preferences | faq | searchįrom: God's Country!.
